Waste Containers

How cute is this?  It almost makes you want to have something to put in it.

All of the containers her have tops to keep the gulls from getting into the containers and scattering the contents everywhere.  They can be rascally little birds.  They are not threatened by people.  There are signs everywhere, "Do not feed the birds."  The gulls waste ends up where ever they are.  Therefore, trash containers are located away from food areas to keep the areas as clean as possible.  The gulls can be very aggressive and bold and if you are not watching, they will steal your food.  They take advantage of every opportunity to get a free meal.

The peregrine falcons have a nest on Morro Rock.  Hence it only seems appropriate to have one painted on the side of a container.  There is a local gentleman who brings his telescope out to the rock and allows others to view the birds and their nest.  A very nice thing to do for visitors and locals.  Sometimes you can hear the falcons calling to each other.

Egrets are fairly common here.  There is apparently good fishing for them.  To me, they seem so elegant and graceful.  And they are so white, giving an amazing contrast to whatever their back ground is.  This container is actually covered in ceramic tiles.  Love the artistry and creativity.

The French Bakery is my new latest favorite cookie place.  Yum, yum and more yum.  There are wonderful pastries, eclairs and other goodies.  They also make sandwiches and soups and coffees.  I am going to have to monitor my visits since it could be hazardous to my physical well being.  My taste buds, however, love this place.

Geraniums thrive here.  Just the right amount of moisture and sun.  There are varieties  that I have never seen before.  And some of the colors are so intense.  Makes me smile.  Surprisingly, roses grow here.  They seem to do very well if they are planted where they get enough sun.  I don't know if there are specific varieties for growing here or if all of them do.  I always thought they needed a very cold winter place to grow.  This potted geranium is about four and a half feet tall.  Quite stunning.

10 Rules For Being Human

1.  You will receive a body.  You may like it or hate it, but it is yours to keep for the entire period.

2.  You will learn lessons.  You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called "life."

3.  There are no mistakes, only lessons.  Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation.  The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

4.  Lessons are repeated until they are learned.  A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it.  When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5.  Learning lessons does not end.  There is no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons.  If you are alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6.  "There" is no better a place than "here."  When your "there" has become a "here," you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7.  Other people are merely mirrors of you.  You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8.  What you make of your life is up to you.  You have all the tools and resources you need.  What you do with them is up to you.  The choice is yours.

9.  Your answers lie within you.  The answers to life's questions lie within you.  All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10. You will forget all this!!!
